Advertising portraiture by Healthcare Photographer Robert Houser
I was once commissioned to photograph a 29 year old woman who was the head of a university IT department.
They specifically wanted her smiling and no crossed arms. She was a young woman in a very male dominated field,
and she came to the shoot stern and serious, no intention of smiling or uncrossing her arms; the shoot wasn’t working.
I noticed her bracelet, stopped shooting and walked over to her. Is any of the art in the office yours, I asked.
The grid of four colors on her bracelet almost exactly mimicked a painting I had seen on the floor below, I explained.
Her arms uncrossed as she looked at her bracelet, smiled and looked up at me.
I kept shooting.
